Nutritional status has a significant role in oral health and disease. Protein deficiency is the key intermediate malnutrition. Malnutrition can disrupt homeostasis, resulting disease progression of cavity, decreased resistance to microbial biofilm, tissue healing capacity. This paper examines association between malnutrition, protein-energy dental health. risk factor for several diseases, such as caries periodontal diseases. Studies have suggested that enamel hypoplasia, salivary gland hypofunction, compositional changes saliva may be mechanisms through which malnutrition associated with caries.
